DEAD SEA MINERALS

Since the days of Cleopatra, minerals from the Dead Sea have been used for both their therapeutic and cosmetic value.  The Dead Sea, located in Israel, is the lowest place on earth (400 meters below sea level).  The Dead Sea is a closed body of water fed by the Jordan River and various streams and springs.  There is a high rate of evaporation due to the climate.  The water and mud subsequently have high concentrations of charged ions and minerals, including magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, calcium, and bromide.

The Dead Sea salts and mud have therapeutic properties that are highly beneficial for healthy skin as well as medical conditions including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Scientific studies show that the skin readily absorbs many of the minerals on contact.  It is theorized that ions and high concentrations of minerals influence cellular growth and metabolism.  The effects are far reaching as the skin is stimulated, nourished and well hydrated. The results are impressive with skin that feels softer and healthier.

Relief for Psoriasis:

High mineral and ion concentrations directly influence cellular growth.  This is especially important for psoriasis.  Psoriasis is a skin condition characterized by rapidly dividing, overactive skin cells.  Electron microscope studies have shown increased cellular mineral content of calcium and magnesium after topical exposure to Dead Sea salts and mud.  It is theorized that the influx of minerals slows down the runaway cell division.  The effect is cumulative, and many psoriasis patients have found significant relief from their condition.

Visiting the Dead Sea is a widely recognized treatment for psoriasis in European and Scandinavian countries.  Many European insurance companies send their patients to the Dead Sea for treatment.  In the United States, the National Psoriasis Foundation recognizes the Dead Sea salts and mud as an alternative treatment option.  In addition, there are some U.S. insurance companies that will send severe psoriasis patients to the Dead Sea for treatment.

Since a visit to the Dead Sea is not readily available for most psoriasis sufferers, home maintenance with Dead Sea salts and mud may be used with impressive results.  Results may vary from person to person depending on the extent of psoriasis involvement and length of treatment.

The cosmetic and therapeutic benefits of the Dead Sea salts and mud have won world acclaim.  More than 50 cosmetic companies are located around the Dead Sea to extract and export the rich salts and black mud. The products are pure, natural, and produced under stringent quality control and antiseptic conditions.
