ACNE SURVIVAL KIT – Recommendations for use

Keep in mind that acne treatment is designed to prevent outbreaks. Treatment is individualized from person to person. Treat the entire acne involved area on a daily basis with maintenance and not episodically when an outbreak is bad. Remember, it doesn’t help to treat individual lesions separately; treat the whole face, chest, or back area to get good results.

Acne Cleanser 5% - This is a benzoyl peroxide wash that may be used two to three times a day. When cleaning your face, use your hands only. Do not scrub with a washcloth or use abrasive granular products. This damages your skin and can actually make the acne worse. Try not to pop, pinch or over-medicate your face. This also may make the acne worse and possibly cause scarring. Benzoyl peroxide products are excellent for oily skin, exfoliation and their antibacterial properties.

Benzaderm Gel 5%– This is a benzoyl peroxide cream that may be used in the morning or at night. This provides excellent antibacterial coverage, as bacteria have no resistance to benzoyl peroxide.

Light Moisturizing Cream – May be used over Acne Clear or Youthful “A” Beauty Cream. This unique, oil-free, fragrance-free moisturizer rehydrates the skin and is especially formulated for patients with oily skin and/or acne conditions. Sheer and lightweight - may be used as a makeup base.

Youthful “A” Beauty Cream - This cream is formulated with retinol. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that is very effective in opening pores. The Acne Clear cream is applied in the morning and the Youthful “A” Beauty Cream in the evening.

Youthful Skin Acid Peels - These pads have 20% glycolic acid on them. Glycolic Acid is a mild fruit-derived Alpha Hydroxy Acid that gently sheds dead, dull surface cells so that fresh cells can take their place.

The results are the following:

  • pores are cleared of impurities
  • skin clarity, texture, color and tone are improved
  • lines and wrinkles are less visible
  • brown spots and sun damage are diminished
  • skin can accept moisture deep within its surface

Remember to only use for up to 5 minutes your first time. This will help you evaluate your skin sensitivity to Glycolic Acid.  The peels can be done once or twice a week.
